This washed Catimor, Catuai, and Caturra from Martha and Ana Albir is a perfect example as to why female focused farms are our passion. At SCA 86 this coffee is a delight to roast and to drink. In an espresso the grape and blueberry notes open up such a rich and beautiful dark chocolate that It's hard not to think the score should have been higher.
As stewards of their community the sisters pay higher wages, are rainforest alliance certified and are dedicated to making the most of the land their family was forced to leave due behind in the 1930s. Reinvigorating the land, protecting the environment, and providing good wages, these sisters make not only delicious coffee, but an easy choice to support on the Tosco Fino journey.
Primary flavor notes when extracted under ideal conditions: Dried Grapes, Dark Chocolate, Prune, Panela and Blueberry
It really is an excellent choice for espresso, even as a lighter roast. When ground and pushed through high pressure the chocolate notes are obvious. and the acid is delightful with a smooth and sweet finish. With filter and immersion, the grape and more fruity notes balance well with the dark chocolate. A clean and delicious washed coffee form the Albir sisters.
